Fans of War films might like to take a look at Band of Brothers. 12 hour episodes iirc. Closely based on the history produced by Stephen Ambrose from audio testimony given by survivors of a US infantry company from training through D Day to the end of hostilities.

I'm going to borrow this set from a friend Thursday Klon. Like yourself he always says how good it is too!

I  also thought The band of brothers was interesting. I admired the Englishman who was in it but I can't remember his name. Great American accent.

I think she probably meant this Englishman...

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0507073/?ref_=tt_cl_t2

He was pretty much the lead character for some of it.

That's a bit personal Brian. Some of the things you say remind me of an old sergeant I served when I was in the army. Were you by any chance at Ladysmith?

I think you mean Damien Lewis as the lead in Band of Brothers playing the real life Richard Winters.  I watched every one on TV and got a boxed set for my birthday, quite the best war film IMO.  I am considering 1917, but am not sure as the trailer contains at least 3 mistakes.  Just been to see Cats today, not as bad as they paint it, so we might do 1917 next week.

Yes, thanks very much, I did mean Damien. He did such a good job playing an American in that movie. I haven't seen him in any thing else.
Cheers Audrine

Audrine.  I would think that you would have seen him in Homeland as another US serviceman, Nicholas Brody, not my cup of tea, but my wife loved it.  He has appeared on stage and screen many times, notably as a convincing Henry VIII in Wolf Hall.
