Coronavirus Virus
« on: Jan 26, 2020, 03:10:47 PM »
This is certainly very worrying and not long before it arrives in UK. They say it can be past on by someone who as it, without so far having any signs it.

Yes Hugh. Someone incubating it can pass it on before they have any symptoms..In that respect it's like the common cold and difficult to stop. Viruses are very successful life forms and were here before us and will be here long after we're dust. All we can do is try to be hygienic and cross our fingers mate.

Its the same family as the common cold but hell of a lot stronger Zoony and far easier to catch. Pleased I don't live in a city where it can rapidly spread.

Yes, that's comforting but what about the people you mix with and their families? Warm, crowded trains, moist, warm public swimming pools? Supermarkets...The list is a long one. Given my COPD it'd be a waste of my time to worry about it too much cos it'd be the end of me if I caught it but I have lo live my life so to heck with it.

Or that he'd visited Wuhan a few weeks before the outbreak was announced.

:) :) :)

A Brit teacher who lives in Wuhan was on a radio phone in and he said locals knew about this problem before Christmas.

On another point, this all started in a meat market where all kinds of animals, including endangered species were on sale.  Call me insensitive, but what goes around comes around, I just hope there aren't any casualties here.

Didn't Sars virus start in much the same way in meat and animal markets through  the inhumane and dirty conditions.  Lessons obviously haven't been learned.

And Bird Flu...The authorities have instituted a harsh crackdown on open air markets now..Better late than never I guess but too late for an increasing number...

Let me advertise my ignorance! This virus is best communicated by touch or air particles, yes? Probably best communicated by lottsa folk in close contact. Best way to spread itself...crowded underground trains or aeroplanes...sorta places where people are trapped or the air is recycled. Is there any way a small amount disinfectant could be recycled in the airlines recycled air filters to limit or kill its lethal potential. I would like to swim in natural water, but the authorities add chlorine to my local baths.

Just wondering.

So long as it doesn't affect the supply of my cheap electronic goods I couldn't care less what happens in China but we need to stop anyone from China entering the UK.

The fact that a a couple of thousand have already entered doesn't mean we should let thousands more enter.

Anyway, I never caught a virus from Corona.

This is a virus and not a bacteria so any disinfectant will be ineffective.
