Been a bit fresh here today but not too bad up to now, but the wind is picking up a bit out there, it blows then drops off for a while and then starts again, and it's raining now so plenty more to come I think.

According to the forecast we currently have around 40mph, due to drop back down to 20 or so overnight then picking up to 50+ tomorrow. Lots of trains from Edinburgh are cancelled tomorrow and folk are being advised to travel only if absolutely necessary.
It does seem to be a bit of a panic reaction - we had local winds of 80+ some years back - IIRC 168mph was recorded somewhere in the Highlands that night and I don't remember all this sort of panic then

I've just walked to Morrisons & back & there's hardly any wind.

Here in Essex there is a full moon in an almost clear sky with dampness in the air at ground level.

Same here, 13 miles north of Perth on the A94. Rain is quite heavy, but not as bad as I expected,  but the wind is gale force. I’m downwind, as it were, of a couple of miles of open farmland, so the wind has free play!

I'd never heard of it, but it can't be far away from me - must try and find it sometime
