I stopped after the mis-statement but if you mean it's place in LFC's recent history then you have a local point. Others have it as 'their' anthem too.

I don't give a damn who 'owns' the song, I have always associated it with Gerry and the Pacemakers and they are the ones I like to listen to singing it.

I might have a listen to Andre Rieu as I'd never heard of him until now
.

I prefer the You Tube Maistricke  version  where you can also see the spectacular crowd scenes,

Just watched it - it's OK but that is about as high as I would rate it. Clearly some members of the audience found it very emotive - possibly hitting personal trigger points, but what is the point of Mr. Rieu and his violin? There's no solo element in the arrangement - and I fail to see how there could be, in all honesty. He's just another violin, but I have always thought that the man was more show than go!
I'll stick with my preferred version.

Thanks for that GM I've never seen that gate.   I had a friend at Hillsborough who thankfully came home, but I also had acquaintances who didn't.  The song always brings tears to my eyes.

I agree.

When I said 'owned' it doesn't mean they legally own it, it means that they have made it their song by popular choice.

'Owned' is a modern parlance word when use in that context.

But getting back to Family Fortunes, I cant see too many of the 100 people not saying Gerry & the Pacemakers, when asked "who did the song You'll never Walk Alone?". ;D

I can't even remember which musical it originally came from - was it Carousel?

I think it was Carousel... I remember a woman singing it when the (hero) Gordon Macrae was killed.. As a kid I sat with mouth wide open in dismay..

It is Carousel. It's sung during the show and then reprised when Billy is on his way to heaven. Not a dry thigh in the house at this point..
