lovely neighbours.
« on: Mar 24, 2020, 07:10:58 PM »
The lady who lives next door to my son knocked on the door as she hadn't seen him around due to self isolating and asked him as she was going shopping could she get his a bit of shopping,

a couple also had neighbours two  doors away did like wise and so I thought these people were young  but the kindness thought was there
it shows that lots of lovely young people are willing to help others

so human kindness isn't dead , what a nice change in a ever changing
violet and hostile world , so there is light at the other end of the tunnel
and so there's lots of hope for man kind, after all,

Q:   are you lucky enough to have kind lovely neighbours , if so will you share your thoughts with us ,.

I thought I'd share this from an email I received..

."..On the other hand a rather large and decidedly dodgy looking young man with tattoo's everywhere seeing an elderly lady (almost bent double) with a deformed spine unable to get toilet rolls, stopped her outside and literally 'gave' her his. I said 'well done' - he turned to me with tears in his eyes and said 'poor old girl' wiped his eyes and seeing my own disability then proceeded to kindly load all my items in the back of the Smart."

A resident here in these flats has pinned a note to the noticeboard offering to do shopping & online shopping ordering for anyone struggling also the staff in the hairdressing salon here have offered to do shopping too.
Nice gestures.

Lots of kindness around, balancing out the selfishness of the minority. 🙄

It's an unpleasant thing to have to write but care should be taken when using such 'altruistic' offers..Just sayin'..

We have quite a few really good neighbours & we are always there for each other.

We don't socialise but they say they understand that we don't but we only have to ask if we need anything.

We do little things like taking in parcels for them, in fact the Hermes driver uses us as drop-off point for those who aren't in.

The young neighbour next door came round to ask if I needed anything and friends are phoning just to chat which makes being isolated much easier.. I do go for a walk but only locally..
My family drop of stuff when they are able.. My freezer and food cupboard is well stocked and I am lucky that I got a supermarket delivery slot for April 6th..

I have had four offers of help now from neighbours.  One put a note through the door with her phone number on so I replied by text that I was ok.  She phoned while she was in Asda to check again and then sent me a text later telling me to look at my step.  She had left a flowering plant and said she was sorry that I was stuck in and she had sanitised the pot.

Three of the people are nurses but the fourth works in my GP's surgery.  That is giving me some reassurance but I hope I do not have to ask for help.

My husband thinks we should have a street party when all this is over.
Everything I can't find is in a totally secure place.

a lovely young couple who live on the back of my car parking space saw me and the mans wife said to me if I needed any shopping she would get it for me ,

she works in a  local Lidl store ,  I replied thank you but hopefully being  on line with our local asda  store and have bought a weekly slot for a year, it just goes to show the kindness of other people,.

so  hopefully I will get some of my orders ,even though I'm sure many other people are doing like wise , how ever i consider myself fortunate to be able to get some shopping, and  being isolated much like almost every one  except those who  are working, at least i can just about manage,

No help from neighbours no surprise there, but Sons and wives FaceTime  and ring everyday , my friend has been brave and found out how to video chat, other friends ring as I also ring them, supermarkets have given us special deliveries so we wonít go hungry. Still sad, but no one on this road ever seem to want to socialise. In spite of the positives it is not good  being in lockdown especially as Ron fell over again and canít move around much although I did beat him at Scrabble tonight. I do appreciate this forum Sleep well everyone
