Manufacturers are jumping on that particular bandwagon like it's the last bandwagon of the year..A good thing though..

Gtech have developed one as well.

Apparently when it's not being used as a ventilator it can be switched into reverse & used to vacuum the ward floor.

Dyson are developing one, it'll look futuristic, cost 10 times more than anyone else's & will still only do the same job.

And the winner is the one made by Oxford university which can be built in the UK & be cheap as chips.

I doubt it's at a mass production level yet but there's plenty of time..

The youngish wizz-kid who demonstrated it said it could be in mass production within a few days & that Sony had agreed to produce the circuit boards which are very simple to make.

Dyson have already been given the contract for 10,000 ventilators so I reckon the others were asked to produce prototypes just to make it look fair & above board.

The Oxford University whizz-kid's ventilator could have been made for a couple of hundred quid.

Just read a piece in the Spectator by a Canadian medical specialist.
He claims 80% of those virus patients who are put on Ventilators die.
He therefore poses the question: why waste resources chasing Ventilators and why waste medical resources running Ventilarors for patients that 8 in 10 of which will die.

It’s the sort of statistic that needs examining. Is he talking about the current situaton or generally? If so, we know there is a shortage of ventilators; if more were available, would his 80% mortality rate still be the case? In any case, is he advocationg increasing the 80% to 100%?

I wouldn't want him as my medical specialist.

Does the dimwit not realise that by the very nature of needing to be put on a ventilator, death is a high possible outcome.

Seems Sir James has been a naughty boy as Dyson haven't yet been given a contract.

There is no shortage   of ventilators now - it is only when the surge comes will there be more patients struggling to stay alive for a few days will there be a shortage.
The 80% mortality rate applies to ITU that have sufficient ventilators currently. - that is for virus patients.
I believe yes - he is suggesting don't buy ventilators and don't apply clinical resources to a situation where only 2 in 10 will survive.
I think he has a point - the money spent on ventilators and the clinical resource would be better applied elsewhere.
