interest rates
« on: Mar 23, 2009, 02:25:16 PM »
I was wondering how the cut in interest rates has effected people who are retired.
I know my money has been badly effected.

Very much I would say.

There must be many who would supplement their pension with interest
from all sources.

Depend on interest for little treats or provide those for others.

This government have failed to protect that interest. Selling
off over half the Countries Gold reserves was the start.

If people are daft enough to vote for labour again then the UK
will be doomed (even more)...

Ive saved all my and like many of us OAPs have  never relied on credit cards.
This government has completely destroyed us financially.
In 1997 Chancellor Brown said he would stop forever the "Boom and Bust"
Every chance he got hes mentioned "Prudence". Hes now our Unelected PM.
Blaming the world for the mess he has landed us all in,
I have lost 50%  of part of my income, from an investment  In NS and I.
This country will never recover under" Busted"Brown

I entirely agree with your posting charlie grace.

I just hope the electorate can see through his incompetence (Brown)

Blair assisted this matter by stating often how wonderful Brown was with
finances like a brain washing exercise.

Billions of pounds have been wasted in Iraq and the loss of
lives in cost beyond any scale.

Wake up Britain!

Mine and my husbands income has gone from Okay to pitiful. All we have now is the low state pension + a small amount of interest. When is this government going to give all pensionners a proper pension. Surely it is against our human rights to just exist on a low income. We fund ourselves entirely, we do not claim for any income support because we have some small savings. But if we all had a proper pension, then we would just pay tax
on it as per normal. I'm sure it would work out cheaper to give every pensioner proper money than to means test all that apply for a top up. What a disgraceful way to act to the elderly. Especially as they are all feathering their own nests quite nicely at our expence, per haps that is the reason that we don't get a proper pension.

You will get nothing from this government. They have spent out. Not on the
things that make the Country a better place to live (for those who know
what the Country was like).

The only way to feel better is NOT to vote Labour unless you want
further dismal incompetence or false promise.

John, i agree with you, but lets be honest most of  these politicians went to to same type of school,
what ever their political persuasion, They have never lived in the real world, and these politicians university education left them debt free! not like the Kids today, we have been conned . cheated, an bloody  lied to. if there was a pensioners party, We would sweep into power at the next election.
What we need is a Man like Oliver Cromwell to go into the house of commons, and throw them all out.
WHO CAN WE REALLY TRUST. THEY are all on the GRAVY TRAIN. and we get  £95.00 a week.

I have often thought that politicians are worlds apart from "normal people". They will never know how it is in the real world. Whom ever we vote for we will just get more of the same old verbal rubbish "lot's of words that mean absolutely nothing", that are crystal clear, i'm just sick of hearing that phrase. The only people who could run this country properly are people who have been through life (and are not quite at the end), ; married/children/careers, and all the ups and downs that go with it. They know what life is about.
I would make all utility bills fair ie; no shareholders. Why should people make money out of a persons basic needs. That seems criminal to me. That is just a start, the list in endless. But that one really gets me.
Also very soon our government will be wasting money on looking at our e-mails and mobile phone calls. Just to see what we do. Talk about a police state.
It's all too miserable to think about.

It was interesting to note that greedy Jacqui Smith announced that they were no longer
going to store everyone's email and records of telephone calls etc.

I put this down to cost, but they will still be spending 2 Billion Pounds acting out
Big Brother on other record snooping (all in the name of terrorism because this
government will not properly control who they allow entry into the UK).

The idea of shareholders of our Utilities were to make investment attractive and
give a share to all. These Utilities were to be overseen and regulated by
Government Bodies, these have been near useless. In line with banking...
