regular grass cutting. Summer period,
« on: May 19, 2020, 08:39:19 AM »
Although cutting the grass can for some people become a chore, i wonder what we would pay another person to call on a regular basis through out the summer period to  cut the grass and take the cuttings away ,

I'm sure there are  people who might already have this or a similar arrangement , say with a retired gardener, for example,

much similar say to window cleaners,

Q; would you pay for this service,

Not yet, although only because my neighbour helps me - half an acre of grass produces a lot of cuttings and shovelling it all into the bins gets harder year by year. If it wasn't for Ally I would probably already be looking for such a service - no idea what they charge

I think I'll be looking for someone to cut the grass soon.  My garden is over 70 feet long and is getting a bit too much for me.  How do you find a reliable gardener with reasonable rates  ?

Carefully. I've had one or two that didn't stick. Fortunately I know an excellent 'odd-job man' now who can do most stuff well enough. Best bet is to ask around...

I left the first cut until the weeds stopped flowering and the rear garden is rewilding so not cut until later..Some interesting flowers popping up here and there..

I noticed in my wanderings around the neighbourhood during this Wuhan flu lockdown that despite all the free time many must have there are still lots of nature gardens. Sometime if you look carefully you can see the odd car wheel, washing machine etc. hiding in the underbrush.

When I had a huge garden I devoted half of it to this purpose but unfortunately couldn't lay my hands on any cart parts etc.  for ornamentation.
So long and thanks for all the fish

Neat and tidy with clipped lawns and weed-free beds is all very nice cosmetically but it's an empty desert to the insects and small creatures we need to encourage. Few insects means low pollination levels and fewer garden birds who'll find richer pickins elsewhere. Mind you, can't remember the last time I saw a flowering bicycle fame or a fruiting old plastic slide..

My gardener is still coming once a month. Why not - its an outside job
