I couldn't disagree with you about that Brian.

We used Hertz a few times where I worked. We hired vans occasionally but sometimes we flew to places like Edinburgh and hired a car at the airport. We were told to use Hertz where possible as we had a discount.

Specialist Leisure Group also went into receivership today. The own various hotel groups. The only area I am familiar with is Shearing. I imagine a few here have bookings with them.

Shearings coach  holidays were very popular with older people. They had the County and the Marine hotel in Llandudno. Budget range but it suited some people.

Been on a few Shearings holidays in the past. Quite good holidays compared to many others & nice coaches too.

Yes it's a shame, a lot of things we're used to are not going to be around in the new normal.

I did go on a Shearings Holiday once but there were a lot of smokers on the coach which caused me to cough a lot and people were getting annoyed. It spoilt the holiday. They were not allowed to smoke on the coach but they smelt of smoke.
I use Warners now. I drive there in my car and you don't get many smokers at Warners.
I think the government should put £5 on a packet of cigarettes every year so nobody will buy them.
There is plenty of room to increase the tax on cigarettes.

I've been on quite a few nice coach holidays but not Shearings, very expensive.

Last thing I wish to do is a coach tour holiday with Wallace Arnold, pal of mine did and stated the coach smelt of urine and cabbage all day, many of the passengers asleep most of the time  saw nothing of France Germany or Italy etc just the inside of their eyelids :)

It doesn't matter Brian what they increase them by, people will still buy tobacco.

Illegal tobacco has been very difficult to get hold of because no one has been travelling to bring it in.

Not that I know anything about this as I do not and have never smoked. Just what I heard on the grapevine.

Good news then.

I'm pretty sure that goods traffic has been carrying on almost unaffected by the precautions although one assumes that leisure travel has almost stopped. A lot of this contraband and even people, are brought in disguised as goods and vehicle parts. With any luck the people who sell this smuggled stuff have stayed at home.
