I was very young at the time of the Coronation and have a vague memory of a big street party , what I do remember clearly was the Queen who went on a tour of the country some time later driving through our town waving to the people that I will never forget.

my aunty had a tv so about twenty of us crushed into the room, i remember we were there for a long time...i was twelve, i remember it as a nice sunny day.... then a week or so later we went to the pictures to watch it in glorious colour... followed by the Conquest of Everest...
then within a month she waved to us from a open coach, i think the second coach carried Margaret the Queen mother plus the Queens grandmother...was it Alice or Mary?...Mary i think...
and funny enough my grandmothers birthday is on June the second and i toast her with the only Whisky i ever drink now-a-days...
