Kind young lady
« on: Jun 02, 2020, 10:46:08 PM »
These were seen walking along a busy road and nobody knew where they had come from. A kind young lady escorted the about a Quarter of a mile to our park pond. They seem to have settled in and are now very much at home. 8)

Excellent. They don't have babies unless they're secure and happy. With luck they'll be back every year from now on.

Are they Canada Geese? Used to see a lot of them when we lived in Haslemere - quite a lot of large ponds nearby, but can't remember seeing any up here, althouhg I may be wrong

Lots of goslings in our local park, yes, they are Canada Geese.
Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.

We were driving along a country road near here and stopped because there were a couple of geese in the road attacking the tyres of another car.  The passenger got out of the car to chase the geese away but the geese decided to attack him.  He very quickly got back into the car.

Canada geese are an invasive species in France and probably here too.

That is an old story and talks about culling but I don't think that ever happened here as they are extremely common.
So long and thanks for all the fish

I lick my lips at the thought of having a goose on the table, nicely roasted, for next Christmas.
