Has anyone watched Cardinal on BBC 2 ?   It's another detective series set in Canada.   The stories are good and the scenery in amazing.

We started to watch it this evening.  If you can cope with the violence, it is good.  We are running out of things to watch.

Got my numbers mixed up obviously, looks like 4 is the last

Yes but the stories in each series are stand-alone so it doesn't matter. I fell for Karine Vanasse in the first episode of the first series.. ;D

I've watched them all too but thought incorrectly that this one was series 3  but it looks like this one (4) is the last.  I know the stories are different, but it helps if you knew about his wife.

Billy Campbell took my fancy straight away too !  :)

I like Canadian dramas for several reasons including new acting faces, generally good writing and story-telling but there's a feeling to many of a cross between British and US dramas that I also enjoy.

I watched "The Young Pope" and "The New Pope" on NowTV and "The Medici" on Netflix. As with all so called "historical" adaptations it was a laugh a minute as to the liberties taken with the characters. Most of it wasnt even shot in Florence.

I did start to watch Homeland again but somehow I lost interest after Brody got hung on a crane in Iran. There is no way anyone with bi polar disorder would be allowed to join the CIA no matter how brilliant they were.

My nephew asks why I cant just relax and enjoy TV box sets for what they are - mass entertainment - without going too deeply into the facts.  Sorry my mind does not work that way.

I find it useful to remind myself that we are not the target audience for these things. As well as suspending my belief for a while but I still find myself berating the screen about this that or the other..I rather enjoy it now that I allow myself to do it freely. At the moment I'm enjoying Scorsese's film about the last concert of The Band.(Always thought it an arrogant name considering..) and enjoying music that's new to me.

No we are clearly NOT the target audience for much of this stuff because it is "mass entertainment" and therefore not intended for anyone with more than half a brain cell.

One box set I did enjoy was "The Man in the High Castle" and am looking forward to the next series of "The Handmaid's Tale". I love dystopian SF.

I’m watching Merlin on Netflix. Watched some of it when it was first broadcast in 2008, but didn’t bother after about half way through the second series. Now, however, I’m well on the way to the end - there are 65 episodes! - and as I said to my sister-in-law, it is about as intellectually challenging as Tom and Jerry, which makes it an ideal distraction in current circumstances

I even watched You've Got Mail yesterday, inspired by an Hungarian play from 1937 that was adapted to make the 1940 film The Shop Around The Corner with Margaret Sullivan and James Stewart.

And last night Billy Elliot.
