When I was courting my wife back in 1956 or so, Harry Secombe was appearing in a West End Revue and we had booked seats at the theatre.  With numerous curtain calls and encores we were getting fidgety to say the least, it was getting near last train time 11 PM to Peterborough from Kings Cross and eventually and reluctantly rose to our feet to depart.  To our embarrassment Harry stopped the show, came to the front of the proscenium and shouted "Where are you off to?  Nobody walks out on my show!"  I weakly expostulated "We have a last train to catch!"  Harry laughingly retorted "Sit down, this is all good stuff, never mind the train!"  However we had to go, you did not use any excuse to stay out all night with a young lady in those faroff days!
