A politician that knows anything about creating wealth is a very rare bird indeed. Most of them think you just raise taxes.

As much as I want Independence, I don't agree with everything the SNP do, The return to the EU is a big NO NO to a lot of Scots, myself included. She may not find it so easy to do as she thinks either, there will be a lot of opposition if she attempts it.

I read an article (can't find it!) that suggested giving first generation Scots like Crab, my daughter and me, living in other parts of the UK, a vote on Independence.   There are a lot of us, I wonder what that result would be.

Don't think that would be fair

Nor do I.  To my mind if you leave a country with little intention of returning I see no reason you should have a vote on its future. I suspect that there could be as many expat  Scots as those in residence.

I would vote for the Union.  I voted for Brexit, so to me disassociating from the country you've been joined to for centuries, to then answer to a distant power, the EU, makes no sense.  I also think the untangling of the UK finances, currency,  defence, social security etc would be a nightmare, and could leave Scotland poorer.

From memory, at the time of the referendum there were around 800,000 Scots living in the rest of the UK and almost as many non-Scots in Scotland

my argument Mike is, i am entitled to a Scots passport if there was such a thing, but the non Scots are not, so why might they be allowed such a vote and Granny and i not??

Because you left the country so don’t actually support it financially, whereas I, and other in omers do. I contribute far more to Scotland’s economy than you do, because I pay tax here - and at a higher rate than those of you in England. - and I spend money here. I support the Scottish economy directly. Apart from your element of contribution to the zBarnett formula, you don’t. You left the country, so why should you have a say in its future?

Because any political decisions that are made would have no effect on you, so why should you choose who makes them
