Butter
« on: Aug 13, 2020, 10:12:51 AM »
How on earth does one cope with it in warm weather? Leave it out and in no time it melts, keep it in the fridge and it can’t be spread

I've no idea why but when butter is accidentally left out and goes melty we call it cat's brains.

Good advice. Took it out of the fridge, left it on the worktop for only ten minutes or so, spread perfectly, back in fridge

I find Lurpak Lighter is great to spread from the fridge.

We do too Mike, no additives unlike any spreadables.  My daughter uses Lurpak spreadable, its fine, but tastes a wee bit different.  I have a heavy, lidded butterdish, it's kept in a cupboard between use, and even in the hot weather the butter doesnt get runny.

That’s a thought. My butter dish is stainless steel , so of course has no insulating effect

Veronica used to prefer the spreadable marges, so that was we had. They were, for me, OK, but I much prefer butter

Butter (slightly salted) for me, Each and every day. Really don't like 'spreads'..closer to plastic than they are to butter..imo

Me too, and some of them have a raft of chemicals in their composition

Last time I looked Lurpak was Butter, not a spread.

Lurpak is a Danish brand of butter owned by the Danish cooperative company, Arla Foods. It is sold in seventy five countries worldwide, and is best known for its distinctive silver packaging. Lurpak started in 1901, as a combination of several Danish dairy farmers to create a common brand for butter to increase sales.

Veronica used to have Lurpak as an alternative to the margarines she also liked - if anything it seemed ever more ready to melt in warm weather than my favourite Graham's slightly salted and to have an 'oily' taste. When trying - and for nearly three years succeeding - to keep my weight down to around 12-7, I had to give up butter (and a lot of other favourites) and the spread I used was olive oil based - Olivio? or a similar name. Used because it fitted the diet, not because I preferred it. Now that I am on my own, I now longer worry much about my weight - about 13-3 when lockdown started, now around  13-9  :-[
