They know opinion is polarised. A Conservative MP knows that the majority of their constituents would no more vote for a different party than they would dance naked down the High street no matter what they do and the same for Labour MPs.


Labour were unlucky last time around in that their treachery to their traditional followers was so great that large  swathes of their constituents actually took a moment to consider before plonking their cross on the ballot paper. The Conservatives are fools if they think it will happen again should they betray those borrowed voters. Backslide on the Brexit deal and that 80 seat majority will evapourate next time around. he beneficiaries will not of necessity be Labour though.

Sadly, if the Conservatives do blow it, I don't see anything other than a Labour government. It might need support from the Lib Dems and SNP. but I can't see any other result
