Only if you haven't hit the post button. There is no way I'm aware of to delete something once it has been posted. All you can do is amend it.

Posts made in error often attract more replies than deliberate ones.  :)

If you have posted something you can edit it, and
when you edit it delete all of its content; then hit POST again.

Mind you, as illustrated above, you can just bash the SPACE bar a few times.

But the post has not been deleted. It has only been amended. You cannot remove the post so nothing remains at all - it will still be there albeit as a post devoid of content.

Sadly some are like that despite still containing many words. Here is an example...

"But the post has not been deleted. It has only been amended."

Still a lot better than the original text where you confessed to "unusual urges."   8)

Maybe so but should you start a thread then change your mind the thread is still there. If you should do it we will now all be wondering what unnatural urges you were confessing originally.

Well, one has to delete the words "unusual urges" as well as the description of the urges themselves.  8)

Better hope nobody alters some of the words when they quote you!  8)

Obviously you have an "unusual urge" to mess about with quotations . . .
