No losers yesterday - it was magnificent, Bairstow at his best and good bowling by England's new off spinner Root, who used to be a batsman once.

The spills and mistakes are what makes this game so great.

Carey and Maxwell, wonderful performances and thank you both for the entertainment.

Ongoing tragedy was no-one saw it in the ground, I watched it to the accompaniment of Holst's Planet suite with the wretched torturer BBC's squawking commentary silenced.

Good thinking. I always used to think what a magnificent soundtrack Mars would make. Image starting with a dark screen, then a slow dawning depicting more and more detail of armoured men on horseback, leading up to the walk, the trot, the gallop and the final clash of the two sides meeting at the climax of the music!

Not surprised, it is fantastic music. Don’t think I have seen any of the films in that list, but I wonder if any of them show the sort of scene I imagined
