Bob Willis Trophy
« on: Sep 27, 2020, 05:41:58 PM »
Must admit to not having taken much notice of it - seemed artificial to my jaundiced eyes. Essex have just taken the trophy in a somewhat odd manner. Apparently in the event of a drawn match, the trophy goes to the side with first innings lead (didn't the Ranji Trophy have something on those lines?). Over the five days, Somerset scored 573 runs to 516 from Essex, whose second innings was 179-6 at close of play - but Essex scored 337 on first innings to 301 from Somerset

All played out in front of absolutely no-one. Another Hancock wonder ruse, which will still be the case at next years trophy presentation in a years time no doubt - if the games still around of course.

Must admit, I do worry for it. I see that someone - couldn’t bring myself to read the article - is still plugging this idiotic Hundred nonsense. Can’t imagine a worse bast ard isation
of the game. Oh, hang about! 10-10 anybody?
