Well, she's gone way down in my estimation, although to be honest, why should she imagine anyone has the slightest interest it what she thinks of an historical event?

Nor in mine - but history lessons for me ended around the time of Boer war - I remember that because our history master was unhappy at any use of the term 'concentration camps' as equating those of the British army (which were badly mismanaged) with those of Nazi Germany, so we passed the Zulu war period, but I am sure it was never mentioned.

Whoops - just realised I've never heard of Lily Allen until this thread- confused her with Lily James of the second Mama Mia film and Downton Abbey, to whom I offer apologies in the very unlikely event of her being a member here!

I first knew about Rorkes Drift watching Zulu and what a brilliant film that was.

I recently watched a film called The Siege of Jadotville which reminded me of the Rorke's Drift incident.  This was a battalion of Irish UN soldiers who were attacked by Katangalese? troops in the Congo, well worth a watch.

Lily Allen ?  opinionated prat.

Yes, brilliant film, watched it quite a few times. A few historical errors, but easily forgiven, at least by me.

Even the Zulus saluted the bravery of the British Redcoats.

I'd  pass Lily Allen in the street wouldn't recognise her, who cares what she thinks. The VC recipients of Rourkes Drift will live on in our memories, at least while native British people are still around.

Yes I watched it on Netflix Mike, I've no idea how historically accurate the film is, but it was entertaining - kept me awake ! 😉

I won’t bore folk with them - other than for history anoraks they aren’t important, and it’s a cracking good film!

I thought Zulu was a great film.

Lily Allen, the entitled daughter of the actor Keith Allen.
Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.

I've heard of her (I have granddaughters) but not her father.
So long and thanks for all the fish
