haha I am quite frugal in many ways but not with the heating!

I NEVER switch  the heating off.  It has a perfect timer which is set at 20 degrees. When the room temp. is at that point, it switches off automatically.gmx

My system isn't that flexible - mostly night storage heaters with supplementary 'normal' electric heaters, so it is quite a balancing act at times. It's OK if the weather is reasonably consistent over a period, but a few weeks ago we had several instances of unseasonably warm one day, unseasonably cold the next, so I was forever switching things on and off
