Why cannot these people be sent out into the fields to pick crops for farmers, to tidy up rubbish dumps or beaches?

You seriously don't expect someone who's paid good money to enter the UK via unauthorised means, to be treated like that.

Preferably in their own countries. We have enough legal immigrants to do that work here.

I think this one near me is only used for storage but considering a big garden shed visible from my back bedroom window has a satellite dish on it who knows...

If you own a chain of four star hotels that nobody is allowed to stay in.....

If you have the contract to supply coaches or mobile phones....

If you provide legal and interpreter services....

I know (of) online sellers who use containers in the garden to store their stock or as an office. They are probably a lot more sturdy and difficult to break into than the average garden shed once you adapt them.

It takes a bit more effort to make them habitable year round than it does to store most things though.

Some are now being manufactured as housing units, and they aren't all bad. A bit like prefabs which some people loved.  There are too many people wanting cheap housing in some parts of the UK, and empty, more affordable homes in other parts.
Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.

I remember seeing something about container living and there were lots of brightly coloured ones in seemingly higgledy-piggledy stacks but which were cleverly put together and made perfectly habitable..might've been in Holland somewhere..The inhabitants seemed happy enough..

It's The Netherlands..The plumbing would more than meet British standards.. Why do German toilets have a ledge so one can examine the day's food intake the next day?
