My maternal grandmother used to provide sung accompaniment to silent films, including, according to her 1930s equivalent of a blog, singing 1,000 times to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - a record!

My younger daughter used to go ( before Covid came along),  to a cinema in Sheffield where they showed modern silent films accompanied by a pianist.


That was probably the Showroom, quite an iconic art deco building.
