So who's right?
« on: Nov 17, 2020, 02:22:07 PM »
Piers Morgam (imo an arse) or the BBC (imo a corporate arse)

Apparently the BBC have decided to no longer refer to fishermen and instead call them fisher people.
Piers Morgan had a go at them about it.

Now to be honest nothing the BBC do these days surprises me or for that matter interests me. If my wife didn't prefer recordings and live TV to just using catch up and downloads I'd dump the licence and that would be an end to any connection I have with the BBC but I wondered what the ladies here especially think to this.
So long and thanks for all the fish

Himself's mate is a Fisherman who works out of the local harbour. I'll tell Mark he's no longer a Fisherman but a Fisher Person. ;D  Can't wait to see his face..

OTT as per usual BBC.
Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.

Perhaps we should call them "fishers".

Bloody stupid .. They are Fishermen..
What about Fisherman’s Friend.. !! Will they rename them too.?
Haven’t these people got anything better to do..!!  Frustrated women come to mind.

I watched Piers Morgan this morning and I agree with him .. When he says..

‘The worlds gone mad’..
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

That is right, they have not got anything better to do, but wish to be seen to be doing something.

The trend now is to have unisex terms for most jobs - police officer, nurse, actor, rather than police woman, male nurse or actress.
Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the blind obedience of fools.

It would help. Anyone can create work, but not everyone can create wealth.

I realise it's a bit off the topic but when I was working I noticed that certain managers, nearly all of them, met any new health and safety challenge with a form to fill in. It is a well known fact that a 1 1/2 ton weight cannot fall on you if you show it a piece of paper.
