They did that with landlines too. I once got given an old fax machine number. Had to unplug the damned thing at night. I can't remember how we got it sorted. Maybe a new number.

I have to use my mobile at least once every 6 months to keep it live.  Not such a problem now as the bank usually sends me a 'one time' code by text if I want to use my account.

I read the story of a girl whose granny had been buried with her mobile.  The girl used to phone her (although she was deceased) and talk to her.  One day she got a severe shock when someone answered - seems like the number had been resurrected!

Paypal recently introduced a condition that if you dont use your account for a certain period they are going to charge you. I think its £20. So if someone has an old PP account they havnt used for years and PP charge them 20 squids I wonder how they propose to collect it.
