If you don't need the fuel payment you can always give it to charity.

I do not need the winter payment, but I have paid honest amounts of tax all my working life and am reluctant to not keep it. It represents one month fuel bill at the rates I am now paying since my fuel company went bust.

My tongue in cheek attitude to anything the Government does for me should not be taken seriously.

I have my winter fuel payment in the bank. I have no qualms about accepting it as I have paid into the system every week from the day I stated work at 15 until I retired, and I do still pay tax. I am glad I paid into a private pension and investments rather than squandered my money on luxuries all my life as I would hate to have to rely on that pitiful meagre State Pension paid out these days in this country. That £200 needs to be paid out EVERY month rather than once a year.

Don't forget we have the £10 Christmas box to look forward to as well and we can spend that how we like. Whoo hoo...

Lucky old us.

Just checked and see I did too. Out on the town tomorrow then. Poundland to get all my pressies while I'm flush.
