Yes we shall certainly miss Yogi, so kind and loyal, stayed at Scott's side until the very last, in the shadow of Mount Erebus.

What a beautiful specimen, I remember that day when, fresh from winning "best in class" at Cruft's, he scaled the Empire State Building to rescue a stranded tortoise. I miss him so much.

He seemed to turn up during a period when Brian was very active and only in his threads.

Is that showing good taste, or was he acting as a guard dog to protect us?

As a guard dog, Yogi was unassailable, always slept with one eye open, and a crack shot with the AK-47, even whilst riding his motor cycle.

Having trawled the web I did locate a picture of Yogi sleeping while on guard but I can't figure out if he still has an eye open

I'm still looking for evidence he rode a motorbike though. I think you might be exaggerating there Ashy - surely if he did there would be a danger of his leg catching fire on the exhaust.

I don't think he rode his motorcycle very often, although he did ride it in the famous canine motorcycle cavalcade across the Hoover Dam in 1934, whilst playing the Star Spangled Banner on his concertina, without sustaining injury. We shall not see his like again.

Have you been breaching lockdown Ashy? It sounds to me like you might have been meeting up with men in pubs. Everybody knows that dogs can't ride bikes no handed so how could he have been playing his concertina at the same time? After more like.

Four paws. Two for the bike, two for the concertina

Ah yes but Yogi played the mouth concertina. Even managed to play La Marsellaise on it whilst bungee jumping off the Eiffel Tower, an achievement no dog has ever repeated.

Indeed, an unsung hero who never sought publicity for himself or his achievements. His entry in the Guineas Book of Records merely states "dog".
