Gift aid.
« on: Nov 22, 2020, 09:54:32 AM »
A few people have been saying a man is a typical tory who takes all and gives nothing.
I have not seen him giving any money on the street but somebody has found out he gives monthly donations by direct debit to some charities.
Now some people are complaining  that he is being subsidized by the tax payer as he would be allowing the charities to claim the tax he pays back on those donations.
Why do people always have to find fault with what a person does.
Like me he tells beggars to get a job.

Gift Aid helps charities. If a taxpayer signs up to it, the charity can claim 25% of the sale price from HMRC.  Sell a donated item for 8, claim another 2 for the charity.

I think plenty of Tories give to charity, not sure what a typical one is.

I give to charities which we could all use but I don't give to scroungers.

Regrettably we have little choice but to give to scroungers. At least they get a bit less with Gift Aid.
