I still have about 100 or more tapes but I have now no way to play them since that last time they were played was in our old car about 20 years ago. At least there is no longer tapes unwound on the side of the road.

Indeed, today's youngsters haven't lived.

Especially when we used them for computer data storage, before domestic disk drives were available or affordable.

I’d forgotten that! I think it was one of Sinclair’s creations that backed up onto cassette, yes?

I bought one of the first domestic-market 5.25 inch floppy disk drives in the mid 1980s & it cost around £300.

It would have needed around 1,750 disks, at 3 quid a disk, to install Windows 7. ;D

I remember paying about £400 for a 40MB hard drive for an Amiga. The software for that came on 3.5" low density floppies.

You can buy a digital converter, usually around the £10-£15 mark, you insert cassette, plug into computer/laptop and let it do its thing.

I suspect that the quality would be terrible though. It wasn't that hot when the tapes were new. Better to redownload what is wanted. Come to that there are music stations specialising in music from various ranges of decades and genres.

Here'sone sit that lists lots
Oldies Radio Stations - Radio UK (radio-uk.co.uk)

Want different then google knows of plenty more
