I loved Dan Dare and Journey into Space. Back then girls were not supposed to like syfy so I was called a tomboy. I also had a train set a fort and a meccano set (all second hand).

Back in the 1980s there used to be a daily short story on the radio. I used to enjoy those.

My very Victorian grandma bought me a clockwork trainset.  My Dad used to take me to the newsagent to buy me comics, Beano, Dandy, Eagle and reluctantly Bunty.

I was an avid fan when they were were first on. A good few years later they were repeated, which I really looked forward to, bu sadly I no longer found them funny.

I had a similar experience Michael.. With The Goons and much else I left behind me when I  moved on from teenhood.. I was an avid fan of Hitchhiker's Guide back in the day but now it's no longer of much interest.. Do you think we've grown up?

The biggest con was 'Educating Archie'. A ventriloquist on the radio! 😆

It was a feature of his programme every Guy Fawkes, describing imaginary fireworks with plenty of ‘Oohhs’ and ‘Aahhs’ and ‘Wasn’t that a pretty one!’

i remember a guy from the RSPCA came on Wogan and warned everyone that they should check their bonfire for hedgehogs before lighting it
Wogan asked him how many must one have before lighting... ;D

If it is any consolation GM the show was pre-recorded at the BBC’s Paris Cinema in Lower Regent Street in front of a live audience  :)
