Waste in the NHS
« on: Jan 01, 2021, 02:21:22 PM »
On Wednesday my wife was given 56 bottles of Fortisip on prescription but she died after having had only one bottle.

The pharmacy can't take them back & a couple of care homes said they can't accept them so at £2.95 per bottle I'll be pouring £162.25 of NHS money down the drain!

You could put them on something like freecycle.  We have a 'free to pick up Wirral' on Facebook and I have just been given a lovely unwanted Christmas present of smellies.  I told the lady I will give a donation to charity.

I had the same experience after Veronica died. Unopened medicines and dressings, but the chemist and the health centre said they weren’t allowed to take them back. Thousands are wasted like this

Why are they unable to take them back if they are unopened/sealed? It's not like your trying to give a half used lot of stuff back. Seems barmy to me.  ???

They came in two already opened boxes when I got them.

Each plastic bottle has a ring that shows if the lid has been unscrewed & the top is also sealed like a plastic milk bottle.

Zoony, there's nothing to agree, apart from if you want them I'll ship them to you & I don't want any payment.

You can send me your address to my email address on my profile page.

Or I'll send them to your nearest click & collect Hermes facility if you tell me which one it is.

No offence was taken, I just want them to go to someone who'll use them. :)
