Good news. It'll soon be over!

I was watching a news item on one of the vaccination centers and it was remarked as to how elderly people were queuing outside in inclement weather for long periods. Surely it can be better organized than this!

Organisation does seem a bit questionable if elderly, frail people, the initial recipients of the vaccine are having to spend long periods in bad weather. Some may succumb before reaching the head of the queue!

According to the news this morning, sadly that is not the case.  Even after the vaccine we will still not be able to get rid of our masks and cuddle our grandchildren.

This was exactly what I was dreading before going for mine, but the Staff and comfort provided at Moreton in the Marsh hospital could not be faulted, straight in and seated on arrival, I was away in just over 1/2 hour.

That’s good to hear. Let’s hope it will the rule rather than the exception

A query to those of you who have had the vaccine. Once it becomes effective (is it three weeks?) what will you then be able to do that you can’t at the moment?

Mike it is said to provide 85-90% protection after around 3 weeks, but I will still carry on much the same as before the jab, its not clear if I could now be immune, but still carry it and infect others, so mask when shopping, avoiding other folk as far as possible, its all become habit now.

I'm having the American vaccine.
I wonder if I will develop an American accent?
Or turn into a Trumper?

Possibly go outside and clap the NHS at 8:00pm. I think the current regulations make that illegal.

I suppose that until the whole - or damn near whole- population has been given the vaccine, it’s only effect will be to, hopefully, prevent those who have received it from falling victim to it. Looks like a very long haul ahead of us

Despite the many suggestions that the young are now falling victim the stats only partly support that and I reckon it is a scare tactic to get the youngsters to comply with lockdown which traffic monitoring is showing to be getting short shrift compared to Lockdown 1. Living on a main road I have to say that tallies closely with my own observations. 92% of deaths are those over 60 over the entire epidemic and during the week 30 Dec to 6 Jan it was 86%. In absolute terms for that week it was 2 under 40s and 15 in the 40-59 age group with no prior morbidities. 229 under 60s but apart from the 17 without they all had known previous morbidities.

IMO once the over 70s are vaccinated (target for that isn't all that far off) the deaths are going to drop dramatically so long as there is a reasonable uptake and the vaccines actually work. There may still be problems with long covid I suppose - I don't know anything much about that or who it impacts.
So long and thanks for all the fish
