Today I used my boots equipped with the larger pair of crampons. Worked every bit as well as the first pair and do have an advantage. The only pair of shoes that I could persuade to accept the first pair of crampons were quite lightweight, with the result that the crampons compress the uppers, which in turn squeeze my toes a bit, so I wouldn't want to work a long distance in them - but pinched toes, and we are talking mild discomfort, not crippling pain, is a tiny price to pay for the confidence they engender in being able to walk on really treacherous surfaces
The boots are every bit as confidence inspiring and totally comfortable!
Once again , Raven, many thanks
Mike
