That sort of thing is only for Downton Abbey! It was one long argument about money (or the lack thereof) and not being able to keep a family on one man's wage. I left my parents home as soon as I was earning enough to keep myself in reasonable comfort.


My sister had just had a baby (age 16) and I can remember the conversation as though it were yesterday. My mother told me I was going to have to "tip up more money" to help with the expenses of my sisters baby. She almost had hysterics when I told her I was moving out a week on friday.


"But how are we going to manage?"
