I'm curious to understand what effect a mellow cello has on a drooping bloomer..

Its dulcet tone would revive it.

Even as just an old guitar picker I can attest to the power of a well-tuned instrument and the right melody..( and lovely memories abound. ) ;D

Zoon in the post about the delectable Toyah and her husband 'Red Crimson' creator Robert Frip, whats the guitar he's playing. Looks delightfully tactile. I'm sure I've seen David Gilmour with one as well?

Beats me.. I'd assume it's from a bespoke luthier. As to the function of the 'big peg', I can only assume it's a guitar-makers version of a Scruggs peg which allows a particular tuning technique.. I've always been an acoustic guitar player so have limited knowledge of the plugged in jobbies.. ;)

Thanks, I once had a twelve string myself, a 'Hohner' acoustic and a beautiful instrument. I found my violin a more convenient travelling companion in those days though and always regarded it as my first love. I still have it and my father's viola to this day.

My beaten up old Fylde 12-string is with me still but I've played it with only six for most of it's life..Always loved the generous neck. It sits in the corner with my ukulele like a bewildered parent..

A very distinguished marque, from the Lakes I recall, my parents retired to a beautiful place 'Sandside' on the banks of the River Kent near to Kendal and my father went to their works to have his Uke repaired once I recall.

perhaps his second name is 'Formby'

And a banjo! One of his prime performances was playing the solo piece performed so brilliantly by Formby in 'Leaning on a Lamp- post'. Normally to a deal of accompaniment curses, but he got there.

My first husband had a Les Paul Signature which he loved.  It had a lovely tone.  He once loaned his strap to John Lennon at The Cavern when John had forgotten his but absentmindedly sold it when he sold another guitar.  Maybe he could have got some money from a rich American or Japanese  ;D
