home ownership shared
« on: Jan 12, 2021, 12:27:29 PM »
I am considering moving in with my son. He would like to add my name to the deeds of his house but I am worried that the house will have to be sold if I need to go into social care. Does anyone have any information on this please?

if I were you, I would seek the advice of a solicitor or the Citizens Advice Bureau
I am involved in trying to settle the estate of my late sister who lived in a house, the equity of which is shared between herself and a housing association. It is a nightmare - the agreement she signed was a death trap. I am not assuming you might run into the same sort of problems, but it makes sense to make sure any agreement is fireproof to the benefit of both of you

I'd echo Mike's suggestion, get expert advice.

Yeah that was more or less the advise we got when My late wife and I put my son down as a third share owner of our house, Its a way of preventing the council robbing your estate to fund some layabouts care.

Where is GTS when you need him?

He was last logged in on the 23rd August 2020.

I often wonder as he did seem to have his fair share of health issues.

He also took a lot of stick so I wouldn't make any assumptions.

He courted all the stick he got as many of his posts were intended to get some stick in my opinion.

I'm not assuming anything bad's happened but it'd still be good to know that he's ok.

ID was active Jan 4 but no new posts since Dec 23. I may be being pessimistic but it doesn't look good to me.

I suppose if he hadn't been a regular poster, we'd think nothing of it , but Ashy always had something to say didn't he ?
