I had been warned, over the years, my left eye was deteriorating.
Though my right eye was ok, at 20-20+, wearing my specs.

Mid November. I was recommended to have it done, now.

Pre assessment appointment, at SpaMedica, just north of Sheffield, was end of December.

The op is next Wednesday. All being well.

I'll let you know.....

Ditto mate.. I hope Chris has a steady hand for the eye drops you'll need.. Something that concerns me doing it myself!  ;D

well done Dayjo,

Once done you'll be amazed at just how much everything you see is that much clearer, and sharper , even colours are that much brighter,
so good luck,

p.s : as for eye drops you'll quickly  get the hang of it,

I was lucky in that Paul put my eye drops in for me but I seem to remember that there is a device you can buy at a pharmacy to help if you have to do it yourself.

Small bottles, where the top is a pipette....You can suck up the liquid from the bottle, and with one hand you keep the eye opened, with the other, you control the pipette and it is really easy to put the drops in the eye. gmx

Provided you have steady hands, of course. With her tremors Veronica could never have managed it, and I wonder if I could, so hope never to need them, as my hands are a bit shaky nowadays.

All went well, on Wednesday.....

Signed in. "Keep the pen".
Passed from one young lady, to the next, to the next. All in separate rooms.
Until I arrived at a waiting room, with 5 others. All of us, with an arrow, drawn on our foreheads.

One by one, we were invited into the next room. And, introduced to the Surgeon.
Sign here. "Keep the pen".
Through to the operating theatre. Containing 5-6 happy/ chatting young ladies.
A pretty blond, wearing pale blue scrubs, was introduced as Lyn. "She's looking in, if that's ok?"

Onto the table. Settled down. Face covered. "Just concentrate on the light".....

No pain. Just pressure/ push/ pull sensations.

All done. Sat up. Must have been no more than 5-6mins!

Escorted to another young lady. Who gave me a goodie bag and care instructions. "You can go home now"......

All over in 1h 50m!

First night. Slight discomfort. Felt like a stray eyelash. Vision was white fog.
Next day. Very slight discomfort. Small improvement to vision, over the day.
Second day. Vision improving. No discomfort. Until C, jabbed my eye with the dropper! Put my own drops in, after that...

This evening. The vision is now clear, with everything in soft focus.
New, left eye shows crisp white vision. Old, right eye has a brown tinge.

I have found, I don't need glasses, around the house. After 68 years!
