My latest astrophotography effort.
« on: Jan 27, 2021, 08:56:15 PM »
It's been a while since we had a clear night sky down here in rural Devon, very frustrating as Orion is only really visible during December/January and I've been longing to try to photo the Orion Nebula, another of the Deep Sky Objects visible to the naked eye. -1º but clear so set up my camera on the Polar mount and managed 22 photos before the cloud came back, but it was enough!
For the photographers that might want lot have a go, each of the 22 photos was exposed for 30 seconds at ISO 500, f4 with the zoom out to 500mm.
These 22 were then stacked, post processed in a free program called SIRIL and tweaked in Photos on my laptop and VOILLA!
This post is my opinion, which you may not like, but I'm entitled to it.

To think that picture only captures a tiny element of the universe, and each little white spot is a star system. Mind blowing

That's an amazing photo CC.  I presume there was no artificial light in the area.

The closest experience I had to that was on a beach when the kids were young and we had a barbecue with another family.  It was a lovely warm evening and we sat watching shooting stars.
