Greenhouse 101
« on: Mar 22, 2021, 08:32:42 AM »
I'm about to move (and have been for 6 months) to a bungalow with a greenhouse. Never had a greenhouse before and I've got, generally, very little experience of gardening. Assuming I get there before the end of April, what are good things to plant in it for the coming summer?

I know a lady who looked after her son's "plants" while he was on holiday, she was told they were tomatoes.

To get back to the question, anything you need to keep frost free.  Small plug plants of begonias etc. to pot on. Much cheaper to buy this way, I got 70 for £17.99, can pay £2.99 each for full size ones in the garden centre.  Try Gardening Direct online.  My begonias in pots were beautiful last year, I don't do flower beds, all that weeding.

Does that include the newer high strength varieties or are they banned? 12 of those and you you could make a day trip to Mars probably.

I tried smoking it back in the 1960s (when you tried that kind of thing) but as I did not smoke or know how to inhale all I got was a sore throat! I did not know how to inhale until I went to Syria and shared a hookah with a friend.

Well, been a while since I partook but I'm sure I can come up with some medicinal reasons and no need for joss sticks this time round. Or I could try smoking tomatoes  ;D

I'll put those on the list. I have few flower beds, I think, but a big area of gravel which looks like it's good for pots. I think pots will be the way to go for a lot of my first endeavors.
