I have never understood how some Welsh words are pronounced with their aversion to vowels. ‘Hwnt’ for instance

No different from saying any phrase really. It is just a series of words run together. If I listen to German I can pick out the words and understand some (less than I used to be able to) but if I listen to say Italian it is just a burbleburbleburble to me because I never learned any Italian. If I hear Indians talking in one or other of their languages and I have no idea which it sounds to me like they are squaring up and hurling insults when they are probably just saying that the spuds look OK and the price is good.

That's a silly statement when 'W' is vowel in Welsh when between 2 consonants.

I can split it. German pronunciation isn't a million miles away from English. You just have to remember to click you heels at the end of what you are, saying
