Yes Katkin, Just before the 1st Lockdown my GP wrote to the hospital to have me get heart scans, Several years back I was told I had leaking heart valves. but nothing was done. During a visit to the GP on another matter she mentioned my noisy breathing and said that I need to get all the tests again as it was starting to have a bit of an impact on me. :o
Still Waiting to hear when/if the Heart Specialist is going to send for me.

Hi Katkin.
Cataract ops.... It's a completely different story, here in Derbyshire!

Late last December, my Optician decided it was time to fix my left eye. "NHS waiting time, 2 - 3 years"....
He recommended a local dedicated eye hospital. Was operated, Jan 27.
This left me with long sighted left, and short sighted right eyes.
I'm being balanced up, with a new right lens, on Wednesday...

The NHS is paying!
David, Christine, + Mia...... NE Derbyshire.

Not, constantly working to be better, or to have more......

Coincidentally, I had a letter from my (local) optician this morning reminding me that he really would like to see me as I'm overdue. Had to laugh, I've been shielding and he's been closed for the best part of two years! He's broached the cataract thing before and his path would also be to a private concern with the NHS footing the bill done relatively quickly.

Yes! At the tail end of 2019 I had a cardiology review. The consultant said that I was due for an echocardiogram but as I seemed fit and healthy they would leave it a year. That appointment came through a few weeks later for December 2020. It was changed to a telephone appointment a few months before the due date (was I meant to lay my mobile on my heart!) and then cancelled. I still cannot get an appointment six months later. Its the same with my disbetic eye check.

A lady friend was told that she needed cataract surgery but because of previous eye surgery she would see the surgeon beforehand. She also had a preliminary date for surgery. Much to her and her optician's amazement the surgeon said he would review in a year. This has never happened despite her optician referring her again both last year and this year. The worry with cataract patients is due to reduced vision they will have a fall and maybe break a hip or Why. Thus a 30 minute outpatient surgery becomes weeks in hospital and rehab.

I could go on but the NHS need to get back to work!

I imagine that there are a lot of golfing GPs with vastly improved handicaps now.
So long and thanks for all the fish

Our G.P.s are still in hiding.  The nurses seem to be doing their job for them.

Paul had to go for a heart check with a nurse but I bet the money goes to the doctors!

I am sure there are some exceptions, but by and large, general practice has racked up an appalling image
