Mobile Phones
« on: Jun 22, 2021, 01:22:01 PM »
I've just heard on the radio that there will be a loud alarm on our mobiles just before 2pm as it's some kind of government test.  Only the Antiques Roadshow phones (like mine) will be affected.   ;D

It's a disaster warning alert that's being tested on Android phones in the Reading area.

It's been on the news recently so I'm surprised that there's anyone who isn't aware of it.

I never listen to nor watch the news, but I do check the BBC News website - don't remember it appearing on there - but I guess I may have missed it

It's hardly national news if it was just a test over a limited area. I never saw it mentioned anywhere either and thought it was possibly a joke.

Perhaps they intend to use it when we open up if they think somebody may have covid. Beats all those sirens they have as flood warnings but are the bunkers ready kitted out with hand sanitiser and cattle prods to ensure social distancing?

The majority of national news is about things that have happened in limited areas.
