There are better ways to move freight if need be. Dirigibles are a much neglected form of transport as are airships. Remember the one with two bums?

Damn sight easier and cheaper to learn to pilot a freight dirigible and no roads to worry about. The small motor technology has improved enormously to combat wind problems but it's still a problem to be overcome..

I guess so. That's why airline pilots were so abysmally paid. Of course there are plenty of those around unemployed or redeployed right now. Not sure it's 400,000 though.
