If I'm not mistaken, and it has been known, I seem to remember that the UK and Iceland are working on a pipeline to bring their geo-thermal energy here..

Can’t find anything more recent than 2017. Surely we would hear if it is a goer?

Yes, I saw that, but look at the date. It’s nine years ago and redolent with the word ‘could’
So what’s happened since?
Rhetorical, I know.
Anyway, are you still up, or like me awake too early?

MPs put everything on expenses so it won't be costing them.

There' a Sci Fi film entitled, "Crack in the Earth."
Scientists drill down into earth and explode a nuclear bomb to
get hot magma to surface for clean heat.
Started Earthquakes and part of Earth blew off to form another Moon.

If we could only get that heat beneath our feet,
 Global Warming would be history.

yes 2000 feet down we could only work in shorts, that often had to be wrung out, but we werent allowed to work with non on.... if you were on transport that moved in the same direction as the air and moved at the same speed you could watch the moisture seeping thru your skin..
surely that kind of heat could be harnessed... its still down there...

We can't expect every house to have its own 2,000 feet shaft.

The Azores has 260,000 inhabitants. Geothermal electricity  presently provides   20.4% of Azores electricity , wind about 20%.

We can't expect every house to have its own 2,000 feet shaft.
Not required.
Power stations only have the bore hole not houses.

If it is so easy and logical, why hasn’t it been done?
