Christmas is coming early to my house
« on: Nov 02, 2011, 02:02:41 PM »
................because my son lives in Aberdeenshire and works in the North Sea. The 15th November is the only time before Christmas that he can travel 500 miles south. So I'm already looking for online value-for-money gifts and have found some great bargains - from books to bedwear.

Christmas like it or not, is the worsted time of the year for many families. It is a fact that more marriages break down over Christmas than any other time of the year. The only thing  good about Christmas spring is now on its way.

Hanuka, I think it runs about the same time as Christmas.
You get a present every day for seven days.

Quite right Hugh, at last we agree on something  ;D

Christmas parties never again in our house. The last one Yvonne and myself were on night shifts both having to work that night. Every one enjoyed a christmas dinner and evening meal. Guess what, every one cleared off leaving us to wash up and clear the mess before going to work. NEVER AGAIN. Now its just the 4 of us spending a quiet Christmas day. If our lads want to join their mates thats also ok.

In this age of Facebook and Twitter, we are all supposed to have hundreds of friends.

But in fact most of us have just two people we would consider to be close friends – down from an average of three 25 years ago, a study claims.
