prescription charges in spain
« on: Sep 01, 2012, 11:12:01 AM »
I am a war pensioner living in spain and was wondering if anyone knows how to claim back the charges as I paid just under 100 euros in July ??

KP I am sure one of our ex pats will be able to tell you bear with them and they will no doubt come back with a response.  Are you registered with the relevant dept out there for the doctors etc, and have you registered with your local town hall for the pensionisters?

Without doing this I do know that you will not be able to get anything back

Kp,

I would suggest you get your Documentation checked over - if you have been here for 8 years and are registered with the Hacienda - you should not be paying any more than € 8.00 per month.

Give me an idea of the area you live in I may be able to suggest a Gestoria who will check if you are fully registered with the Hacienda  F o Charge.

My monthly prescriptions would cost me nearly € 600  if I had to pay full price - I have yet to pay more the € 7.00.

The facility to claim back your payments - is not yet in force !!!!  supposedly later this year before it starts
If I wake up in the morning - I know it's going to be a Good Day - just consider the alternative !!!!!

Strange question for your first post as well Ed, how about introducing yourself first then ask the question giving the reasons behind it??? ::)

I think expats in Spain , or anywhere else in the world , should be given the freedom to choose for themselves where they wish to spend their retirement .
I think the question of whether or not expats should return to the UK has been covered enough on this forum , especially as it seems to cause bad feeling in some cases.
I think this topic should stay with the original theme , about prescription charges , with out being sidetracked .
I think a certain level of courtesy should be a pre -requisite on this forum. >:(
