Another Encouaging Record for the UK
« on: Dec 21, 2009, 12:04:43 PM »
UK's under-15s are Europe's heaviest drinkers, and rank high for drug and tobacco use too

Whether its without their parents' permission, or without it - or unknown to their parents
- UK's children drink, smoke and take more drugs than kids from any others developed country.

Is this something to be proud of? No is the short answer.

But of course that is my answer. Many more will be proud of holding the record.

And the reason for that is ?

My opinion is lack of basic police action. This very basic policing which the police don't do any more. True every now and then they have a purge on some particular crime in a particular area and make a few token arrests they then move on and any clearance made is rapidly filled. In general since they have become the uniformed branch of the social services they are apt to spend more time and resources on PC offences and the like. Most would say "and persecuting motorists" but in reality they don't do that any more, unless you count the traffic wombles and their habit of closing busy motorways at the drop of a hat after a minor shunt. Example M1 south junction 11 last Sat. Queues back to junction 14.
