Sham Marriages - Another Government Farce
« on: Jan 08, 2010, 07:06:22 PM »
A class of 6 year olds could go down to Register Offices and
spot the sham marriages.

When two people are not able to speak each other's language
and stare vacantly at each other, or run off at the simplest
of questions - this must be a clue.

After years of sham educational establishments - you think
Gordon could have caught on by now...

It's nothing new, it was going on in the 60s to my knowledge.

I'm not condoning it, but I fail to see how it can be easily prevented.

It happens in all so called 'civilised' countries.

The High Court has ruled, that tough Government rules to prevent Sham marriages discriminate against imigrants.
Mr Justice Silber said the rules were unreasonable and breached human rights.

Some campaigners said the law  was discriminatory because it effectively labelled some immigrants as fraudsters

So what I think it now means, is that Ministers must return to Parliament or take other steps to make sure they are being fair.

I understand up to 10,000 a year marriages where performed prior to the  new legislation

I would not like to guess what it could be today.

One ruling should  not make it legal or suitable in a civilised society.

There have been enough films made on this theme in the US.

It certainly was  not that easy or ignored as in the UK.

I thought we were having a war against terrorism and people
were actively targeting the UK. Meaning that not only would
we have to invade other countries and attack them, before
they attacked us. But we had to secure our borders.

But this is not true,  we are able to give a vehicle to anybody to
enter this country illegally and stay as long as they like by getting
a sham marriage.

No doubt there are websites that offer these. Thinking about
it any single pensioners want to make a few thousand?

Quickie divorce in 2 years - then off you go again.

Too close to home, I was invited to be a 'convenience bride' in the 60s. I refused.
