Bang goes the theory
« on: Mar 17, 2014, 07:59:10 PM »
Anybody else watch the episode tonight? Most interesting in depth discussion and demonstration bout cancer. I didn't watch the previous BGTT as it was presented a bit stupidly (like the Gadget Show) but has now come of age. Well done BBC.

Yes, we have just watched it and already commented on the improvement in quality.  So much better than Horizon which is packed out with long shots and talking heads.  I have to say that my comment was that it's wonderful to see all these things happening and all the fantastic opportunities presented by the latest technology, but it tends to fall at the first hurdle.  Either the NHS deems it too costly, or your local GP is simply not interested.  We see examples every day of people who have been turned away from surgeries or A&E's with a few Paracetamol only to find that the patient had a life threatening complaint?  Until the health system in this country becomes truly patient oriented we will never get the benefit of latest research.

I must say that the "through the post" tests have been good, I've had two over the last few years. I also get a 6 monthly PSA (blood) test for the old prostate. I believe there is a better one in the pipeline.
