Savings overseas.
« on: Mar 11, 2010, 09:48:14 PM »
A friend tells me he has moved the bulk of his savings to Ireland and had them converted to Euros.

This way he gets a bit better interest, but mainly he protects the cash from the decline in the £.

He says he pays tax on the interest in the Uk and the scheme is quite legal.

Does anyone know anything about this.  ???

If it is legal it would be well worth while as the value of the £ is dropping like a stone

Its quite legal and sensible in the way described.

When the pound was worth €1.55

That would be approaching a 50% increase of value on your savings when you converted back now.

This was without any account interest.

Beware of Greeks the Euro will drop like a stone & if we do not get a hung parliament the pound will rise  I reckon it will be at about 1.44 to the pound on the 6th June 2010

While we have to surmise what will happen at the next election it is unlikely the £ will go up in value.

We owe the rest of the world too much and if for some reason Avalonmpk is forecasting accurately then life will be really tough for our exporters.

That means us all in the end as we need to export to pay the lenders.

We pensioners just need to look to our savings to survive.

Hi,
I would say spreading it about is much the best plan.
Unfortunately some of us do not have much to start with any way.

Many are finding it quite a bleak prospect to live on a small pension. :o
Here at Property4Tycoons you can take part of the money in your SIPP that is lying around not really doing much and invest it in property that can give you a much higher rate of return and capital growth. :)
For example for £26,500 you can buy a renovated 3 or 4 bedroomed house in Detroit that has been completely renovated and refurbished. It will also come with a GUARANTEED rental income of 27% for 5 Years! ;D

If that is too much money for you to invest or borrow you can get started in property investment from just £1000.
Do something decisive today to improve your pension and visit our site at:

http://www.property4tycoons.com
Make your SIPP work harder.
Is your SIPP performing badly? Take part of it out and invest in our high yielding property.
Please visit our site to find great properties that are presently at Below Market Values and represent great opportunities with little risk.

Spam is an American expression which debases the Queens' English! Do not let the Americans debase our money as well.

And put more people on the streets,  don't export misery - I approve of capitalism but not blatant cynicism

Those were the Good old days.  I served my apprenticeship in the composing room of a provincial newspaper as a typesetter (City & Guilds etc.) Nowadays called graphic artists with a BA (the A Stands for allround and the B stands for something that comes from the rear end of a male Bovine
